Guam - Dog fighting is not something that is new to the island, in fact it's probably more common than most people are aware of, and this underground activity continues to grow in popularity even with laws that are in place to prevent it from happening. Recently the Pacific News Center brought you exclusive video of illegal dog fighting taking place right here on Guam, and even more of these types of images are available on line. But despite that, the Guam Police Department is finding it hard to combat the situation.
Guam Police Chief Paul Suba has confirmed in previous interviews with PNC that there is an investigation underway into the illegal dog fighting, however GPD spokesman Officer Allan Guzman could not give specifics on any individual case. He says though there have been cases in which high profile individuals, and even law enforcement personnel have been involved.
Just this month, a law was passed which criminalizes dog fighting locally. The Humane Society of the U.S. has also stepped in and has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information which leads to the arrest of individuals involved in dog fighting.
